Winter Ops Update 2/1/2015 7:45

NOTE: Garbage and recycling service for 2/2/2015 has been cancelled.

Current Conditions:

A blizzard warning remains in effect until 12am. Winds could gust as high as 50mph! The snow intensity will ease up around 10pm, but snow may still fall for several hours after that. An incredible 15” of snow has already fallen! The National Weather Service reports this storm will be in the Top 10 of largest snowstorms in Chicago.

Operations Currently Underway:

Drivers are working hard to clear all streets and cul-de-sacs. Heavy snowfall has made for slow-progress especially in the cul-de-sacs. The pickup trucks used for most cul-de-sacs have a difficult time pushing higher snow amounts and it can be difficult to find places to push the snow.

Road Conditions:

An abundance of cars parked on the streets is also hindering progress. Please don’t park on the streets; parked cars slow down the plowing process.

Potential Duration:

Public Works Crews will work until this snow event has ceased & all roads are safe to drive upon.
